The family of a British sailor who has been missing since May 27 sent his wife's uncle to the UAE yesterday to help the investigation into his disappearance.
Leading Seaman Timmy MacColl, from Scotland, was last seen leaving the Rock Bottom Cafe in the Regent Palace Hotel, in Bur Dubai, after a night out with fellow sailors.
There have been no leads in the case.
Neil Cunningham, the uncle of Mr MacColl's wife Rachael, arrived in Dubai yesterday and was planning to hold a midnight vigil tonight at the hotel, the sailor's last known location.
A user on the Facebook page, Bring Timmy Home, said: "Rachael's uncle Neil will be outside the Regent Palace Hotel ...where we will have a 'Time of Reflection' for Timmy. Neil will update us on how the family are doing, and [will] tell us a bit about Timmy, the man we've had in our thoughts for the last two weeks."
The vigil replaced volunteer efforts to meet at the hotel, over the course of the weekend, to ask passers-by for information.
"Our families are really grateful for your support, [and] I hope to see you on Saturday night and tell you about Timmy, Rachael and their wonderful family," said Mr Cunningham, who posted a message on the Facebook page.
More than 110, 000 people have now signed up to the page, with many sending out the message via their Twitter profiles.
