DERBY // Nigel Clough's dream of winning the one domestic trophy that eluded his father, Brian, was shattered as Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell snatched an injury-time winner in the FA Cup fifth-round tie at Pride Park. Jay McEveley's 54th-minute strike put the Rams on course for a quarter-final spot for the first time in 11 years, but Scott Dann headed home a James McFadden corner to level matters and then Ridgewell - who scored a last-minute equaliser against Tottenham in the Premier League two weeks ago - popped up with the decider.
It was rough justice on the home side - and their inspirational captain Robbie Savage - and they deserved a second chance against a below-par City, with Kris Commons a constant handful for the away defenders. Derby more than matched their high-flying Premier League opponents for long periods. But Birmingham have a never-say-die spirit about them these days and it surfaced again to seal their place in the last eight.
The Birmingham manager Alex McLeish praised the character of goalkeeper Joe Hart as he recovered from a goal-costing error that led to Derby's goal. McLeish said: "McEveley's shot took a bounce in front of Joe and it was a difficult pitch but I was still surprised to see it end up in the back of the net. "But Joe has shown great character all season and always responded in the right way. It was a tremendous save that he made from Savage right at the death.
"I spoke to Fabio Capello [the England coach] during the week and he is also very happy with Joe's form overall." Clough played down hand gestures made by his captain, the former Birmingham midfielder Savage, towards the away fans after Ridgewell had netted his late minute winner. He said: "I'd rather talk about the 95 minutes of football before that. I thought overall that we deserved at least a replay and we do feel slightly hard done by."

Three ways to limit your social media use
Clinical psychologist, Dr Saliha Afridi at The Lighthouse Arabia suggests three easy things you can do every day to cut back on the time you spend online.
1. Put the social media app in a folder on the second or third screen of your phone so it has to remain a conscious decision to open, rather than something your fingers gravitate towards without consideration.
2. Schedule a time to use social media instead of consistently throughout the day. I recommend setting aside certain times of the day or week when you upload pictures or share information.
3. Take a mental snapshot rather than a photo on your phone. Instead of sharing it with your social world, try to absorb the moment, connect with your feeling, experience the moment with all five of your senses. You will have a memory of that moment more vividly and for far longer than if you take a picture of it.

What is an ETF?
An exchange traded fund is a type of investment fund that can be traded quickly and easily, just like stocks and shares. They come with no upfront costs aside from your brokerage's dealing charges and annual fees, which are far lower than on traditional mutual investment funds. Charges are as low as 0.03 per cent on one of the very cheapest (and most popular), Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, with the maximum around 0.75 per cent.
There is no fund manager deciding which stocks and other assets to invest in, instead they passively track their chosen index, country, region or commodity, regardless of whether it goes up or down.
The first ETF was launched as recently as 1993, but the sector boasted $5.78 billion in assets under management at the end of September as inflows hit record highs, according to the latest figures from ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm.
There are thousands to choose from, with the five largest providers BlackRock’s iShares, Vanguard, State Street Global Advisers, Deutsche Bank X-trackers and Invesco PowerShares.
While the best-known track major indices such as MSCI World, the S&P 500 and FTSE 100, you can also invest in specific countries or regions, large, medium or small companies, government bonds, gold, crude oil, cocoa, water, carbon, cattle, corn futures, currency shifts or even a stock market crash.
