Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he is "honoured" to be named the new manager of Scottish club Rangers.
Gerrard, 37, was appointed manager on Friday after signing a four-year contract.
“I am honoured to become the next manager of Rangers. I have enormous respect for this football club, and its history and tradition," the former Liverpool, Los Angeles Galaxy and England midfielder told the Rangers website.
“I can’t wait to start this new journey at Rangers as we look to build on the many successes that this Club has achieved.”

After retiring as a player in November 2016, Gerrard was appointed youth coach at Liverpool in January 2017. He took charge of the Under-18 side for this season.
“We are delighted to confirm today that Steven Gerrard will become the next manager of Rangers," club chairman Dave King said.
“From the very beginning, talks have been extremely positive and we believe that Steven is the right man to drive Rangers forward.
“He was extremely impressive throughout our negotiations and we are convinced that he has the necessary knowledge and temperament to lead the Club to the success we all desire.
“This a special day for our Club, our fans and for Steven.”
Rangers Managing Director Stewart Robertson added: “We believe we have appointed the perfect man to manage our Club at this time.
“He is an exciting appointment for the Club and I believe that the Rangers support will back him as only they can.”
As a player, Gerrard made over 500 appearances for Liverpool, helping the club win two FA Cups, three League Cups and the 2005 Uefa Champions League. Gerrard made 114 appearances for the England national team.
