Whether using a child seat is the law or not, I cannot fathom why so many parents in this day and age do not have their child buckled in a proper seat at the back (Demand for child car seats in huge increase since law change, study finds, July 19). I am honestly hoping that the new law will be enforced to the fullest extent.

Advantage UAE as BeIN Sports blocked amid diplomatic row
Amid the current diplomatic crisis with Qatar, access to the beIN Sports TV network has been blocked by local providers here (BeIN Sports block in UAE leaves football fans scrambling ahead of new season, July 20). So, can we watch the EPL through other sports broadcasters in the UAE? It's time for Abu Dhabi Sports to organise and market events around the world. It's an opportunity to generate revenue. Such events can be sponsored by local companies, which, in turn, will boost tourism.

Fewer people can afford luxury concierge services
I was rather baffled to read the article Your wish, their command: luxury concierge services in the UAE (July 20). Fewer people have the ability to afford these sort of luxuries any more. Everybody is having to tighten their belts.

Can you really spot an object from a distance of 14 kilometres?
Regarding the news report Emirates A380 almost collides with another plane over Mauritius (July 19), you really need good eyes to see something at a distance of 14 kilometres. In fact, I would say it is impossible. Either the facts are incorrect or the story has been blown up out of all proportion.

More awareness needed about Guillain-Barré syndrome
My uncle had Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune condition that left him on the verge of death. It is a horrible disease (Emirati describes year-long recovery battle after contracting crippling immune disease, July 19).
I hope Mohammed Al Hossani, makes a full recovery and his family gets the support it needs.
Hopefully this article will help raise more awareness abut GBS here in the UAE.

People must be aware of consequences of non-payment of debt
How are people expected to learn how to manage their money if every time they get into debt they go crying to the courts and get it written off (Both banks and customers are responsible for the easy credit curse, July 18)? If you borrow money, you are responsible for repaying it. If you don't want to be in debt, don't borrow money.
