The 2013 Cadillac ATS saloon rides on General Motors' new rear-drive Alpha chassis and it has been described as a smaller, CTS-like vehicle that aims to seriously compete with the BMW 3 Series. The ATS is likely to get GM's 2.0L turbo-charged four-cylinder engine, while the 3.0L V6 or the 3.6L V6 (or maybe both) should also find their way into the ATS. Currently, production of the ATS saloon is due to start in July next year, followed by the coupé in July 2013. Back in October 2010, GM announced a US$190 million investment in an assembly plant in Michigan, USA, to build the ATS line of vehicles. Much like the CTS Coupé, the distinctive rear end design of the ATS appears to culminate in a sharp, pointed and creased profile.
