Man who filmed married couple undress in Dubai is jailed

DUBAI // A man who secretly recorded a married couple from their balcony as they got changed in their bedroom, will be jailed for three months.

Indian labourer A B, 22, was convicted by Dubai Criminal Court of using his mobile phone to save footage of the couple naked between November 8 and 15.

Last December, he denied charges of sexual assault and of violating the privacy of the Indian couple.

The husband, A J, said that on November 15 at 11.50pm, he and his 24-year-old wife spotted a mobile phone directed at them through a small opening in their bedroom balcony door at their apartment.

“We only saw it when the curtain moved a bit, then I went to check it out and I saw A B standing in the corner, trying to remain unseen,” said the husband.

He said he captured the defendant and took the phone. When he checked the mobile he found clips of him and his wife naked, as they were changing their clothes.

A J called police and the man was arrested.

Prosecutors said that the labourer confessed during investigations. However, he denied the charges against him in court.

The court ordered the confiscation of his mobile phone.

He will be deported after serving his term.
