DUBAI // A man was found not guilty on Monday of assaulting and scratching police officers during his arrest.

The unemployed Omani, 39, told Dubai Criminal Court that, in fact, it was the officers who assaulted him when he was detained on February 7 for several offences not specified in court records.

One Emirati policeman, 28, claimed that the Omani was pushing and scratching officers, who had to go to Al Baraha Hospital for treatment, but the court disagreed and acquitted the man of the assault charge. It is not clear whether he is being charged for other offences or not.
