A woman who went into labour at a petrol station in Al Gharbia was airlifted by police to Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
Lt Mabkhout Al Katheeri, the duty officer at the central operations room in Abu Dhabi, said: "We got the call at 2.17pm, at which time we immediately dispatched an air ambulance, two rescue patrols and a criminal investigation squad."
The Abu Al Abyad petrol station is 140 kilometres away from the nearest hospital.
Police said they responded in "a record time" of 13 minutes and the pregnant woman arrived at the hospital safely.
