Transfer talk: July 29 - No Lloris move, Liverpool happy to keep Carroll

Arsenal are set to lodge a bid with Scottish champions Celtic for their Kenya international midfielder Victor Wanyama. Read the full story here.

Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will not be moving to Tottenham - unless the player asks to leave, insists Jean-Michel Aulas, the club's president.

Spurs have been linked with the France captain but claim they have made no offer, and the Ligue 1 side say they would not welcome one.

"Tottenham made contact through [Lloris'] agent but there has been no concrete offer since," Aulas said.

"I don't think they really want him, but we really want to keep him.  He will stay at Lyon unless he absolutely wants to go. The best present we can give to the fans is finding a way to keep him. We will try to do just that.".

Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool manager, insists Andy Carroll is happy to remain at Anfield despite continuing speculation over the player's future.

The England international has been linked with a move away from Merseyside after struggling to make an impact following his £35million (Dh200m) move from Newcastle in January 2011.

His former club have already had an initial bid to resign Carroll rejected, and Rodgers is adamant the Euro 2012 forward is still a part of his plans for the forthcoming season.

Asked if there had been any offers for Carroll, Rodgers said: "Not that I am aware of. Obviously I'll know more when we get back.

"There has been a lot written about Andy, but you saw today he's happy to be here and he's worked very well since he's been here.

"The reality is he's still a Liverpool player, he can fit into how I want to play, and he's happy here.

"I'm certainly not wishing to push him out of the door."

Real Mallorca have agreed a deal to sell in-demand defender Ivan Ramis to West Ham United.

The 27-year-old stopper had been linked with a number of English clubs, and now West Ham are poised to make him their latest summer signing.

A statement on the Spanish side's website said: "Mallorca and West Ham have reached an agreement for the transfer of Ivan Ramis. The Mallorcan defender has the permission of the club to have a medical with what will be his new team."

The clubbed did not disclose a fee, but confirmed the deal would "achieve the economic objective for which they have been working for over recent weeks."

Mallorca-born Ramis came up through the youth ranks at his local club and, aside from a spell on loan at Real Valladolid in 2005/06, has spent the last eight seasons with the senior team.

Analysis

Maros Sefcovic is juggling multiple international trade agreement files, but his message was clear when he spoke to The National on Wednesday.

The EU-UAE bilateral trade deal will be finalised soon, he said. It is in everyone’s interests to do so. Both sides want to move quickly and are in alignment. He said the UAE is a very important partner for the EU. It’s full speed ahead - and with some lofty ambitions - on the road to a free trade agreement.

We also talked about US-EU tariffs. He answered that both sides need to talk more and more often, but he is prepared to defend Europe's position and said diplomacy should be a guiding principle through the current moment.

Four tips to secure IoT networks

Mohammed Abukhater, vice president at FireEye in the Middle East, said:

- Keep device software up-to-date. Most come with basic operating system, so users should ensure that they always have the latest version

- Besides a strong password, use two-step authentication. There should be a second log-in step like adding a code sent to your mobile number

- Usually smart devices come with many unnecessary features. Users should lock those features that are not required or used frequently

- Always create a different guest network for visitors
