When my handbag was stolen at Geneva Airport last year the first thing I realised with horror was that I would have to live without my make-up bag full of nine lip glosses. Never mind that my passport was gone, along with the children's passports and my husband's, as well as my gorgeous Montegrappa pen, wallet, credit cards and the car key. What really bothered me was that I had lost the one thing I can't do without. The policeman who took my statement lost the will to live as I listed all the makes and colours of my glosses.

Nine lip glosses might seem excessive to you. They certainly were to the thief. When my bag was found again the following day, the thief had stolen only two of them (and left all our passports, thankfully) - the Laura Mercier Lip Plumper in lychee and the Chanel Levres Scintillantes No. 19 Blizzard. Maros Sefcovic is juggling multiple international trade agreement files, but his message was clear when he spoke to The National on Wednesday.
The EU-UAE bilateral trade deal will be finalised soon, he said. It is in everyone’s interests to do so. Both sides want to move quickly and are in alignment. He said the UAE is a very important partner for the EU. It’s full speed ahead - and with some lofty ambitions - on the road to a free trade agreement.
